Volumisers

Volumisers

What are Volumisers?

Volumisers are cosmetic injections that are used to create lots of volume and contour to larger areas when there has been generalised and significant volume loss. They are very effective in producing and replacing collagen that has been lost over time and are commonly referred to in the press as ‘liquid face lifts’. Sculptra® is a Volumiser.

What do Volumisers do?

Not all cosmetic injections have the exact same actions. Yes, they are all delivered by using an injection technique, but more importantly their actions on the underlying tissues are different. We commonly refer to them all as Dermal Fillers but some neither fill nor are they injected into the skin but actually go through the skin into the deeper layers of tissue and some are laid very deep over bone. Sculptra® is a Volumiser, its main ingredient is Poly-L Lactic Acid (PLLA) it isn’t a Dermal Filler and should never be used as such.

How do Volumisers work?

Sculptra® is different because it gradually works over time to replace lost collagen, it slowly and subtly corrects facial lines and wrinkles. This can result in a fuller, more youthful looking appearance that can last more than two years.

Are Volumisers permanent?

No - They will eventually dissolve. There are permanent fillers on the market, however at AESTHETiKA we do not provide them, as once they have been administered it is very difficult to alter or change them.

A-box

Sculptra® is a very effective treatment for creating pan facial contouring and volume and it has a rejuvenating effect on skin. This is not a quick fix option, it develops over a period of time and will require several treatment sessions, the number of sessions and the number of injections per session vary from person to person. We would recommend a course of treatment consisting of 3 separate injection sessions about 2-3 months apart. It should only ever be administered by an experienced Doctor or Nurse Injector, registered with the GMC or NMC. Sculptra® is both FDA approved and CE marked and is used in the NHS to treat patients with a condition known as Lipoatrophy. There is after care with this treatment and repeat treatments are required from18-24 months onwards to maintain the look.
