Aesthetika Clinic continues to do their bit to fight the pandemic.
Cheryl Barton has been working for the Test and Trace service and she has recently been enrolled into the vaccination programme. The Clinic has recently been listed on the Government website by the Department of Health and Social Care ( DHSC ) as a private provider for Covid testing.
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation scheme is a 3-stage process that has been developed in partnership between both the DHSC and UKAS to provide Point of Care Tests PoCT and Test To Release.
What are these Tests ?
There are 2 different coronavirus tests, antigen tests and antibody tests. One (antigen) that tells you if you have coronavirus now, and the other (antibody) tells you if you’ve had it before and Aesthetika Clinic will be providing these tests after partnering up with UKAS accredited laboratories.
What are Antigen tests ?
The tests are sometimes called ‘antigen’ or ‘swab’ tests and they check to see if you are currently infected with the coronavirus. The test involves taking a swab of the inside of your nose and the back of your throat, using a long cotton bud, alternatively, a saliva sample might be used
What are Antibody Tests ?
These tests check for antibodies to see if you have had an infection with the virus in the past. This test requires a blood sample, which can be collected in several ways.Antibody testing has limitations, largely because there is a lot we don’t yet know about immunity to COVID-19
