Did you know that it is prohibited to advertise Botox in the UK
You didn’t?
That comes as no surprise to us because we see it advertised everywhere too, and we mean everywhere, from print to online - that poster in the shop window to that billboard on the street outside the hairdressers. Just take a look at your social media feeds, FaceBook the biggest, is being used as a tool to illegally advertise and promote Botox directly to you on your phone or screen.
It has always been prohibited to advertise prescription only medicines (POM’s) in the UK and it remains prohibited. It is different in other countries, in the USA for instance drugs can be freely advertised as they can in other parts of the world.
So you’ve seen it advertised, now ask yourself this question, if they are breaking the rules on advertising Botox to you, what other rules are they breaking?
Botox® is the Trade Name given to the manufacturer Allergan’s brand of Botulinum Toxin Type A. There are other brands available. If you are considering a treatment, it is essential you undergo a Consultation, Face to Face with your Doctor, Nurse or Dentist and that you understand the options for treatment, the risks and complications of treatment, the after care, costs and what are the implications (if any) for ongoing maintenance.
